İzmir Festivals

  

Many important festivals are held throughout the year in İzmir, which is almost a festival city. Some of the festivals are held internationally and the number of participants is increasing every year. International Izmir Fair, International Bayindir Flower Festival, Nazarkoy Bead Festival, Gaziemir Children’s Festival, International Izmir Theater Days, Alacati Herb Festival, Urla Scarecrow Festival, Bornova Puppet Festival, Izmir Seed Exchange Festival, Urla Herb Festival, Bademli Bicycle Festival and many more festivals are organized throughout the year.

Izmir International Fair Every year a different theme is covered in the fair which is held in September. The fair organized by Izmir Municipality was first held on February 17, 1923. Within the scope of the 10-day fair, technology, art, trade, real estate and companies operating in many different fields are presenting their products worldwide. Music concerts, dance performances and theatre performances are organized. A very small fee is paid at the entrance to the fair organized in İzmir Kültürpark in Konak. Metro and bus services to the fairground are organized on the dates of the fair.

Nazarkoy Bead Festival

The festival, which is organized jointly by Kemalpaşa Municipality and the Mukhtar of Nazarköy, presents beads of different species and colours produced in Nazarköy. Competitions are held in different categories in the festival and the winners are given various prizes and can be tasted in the dishes prepared by the local people. The festival is held in May each year. You can go to Nazarköy by private vehicles or by bus from Izmir bus station.

International Bayındır Flower Festival

Thousands of varieties of flowers grown in the region are exhibited and sold at the festival held in May each year. Folk dances, concerts and competitions are organized within the scope of the festival organized jointly by İzmir and Bayındır municipalities and the tastes of the region are presented to the appreciation of the participants.

Gaziemir Children’s Festival

Within the scope of the festival which is organized in April every year, children from different countries of the world are brought together with children from İzmir and different activities are organized.

International Izmir Theater Days

The festival is organized every year in March with the participation of many artists from abroad and domestic.

Bornova puppet game festival

Organized in the last week of February and the first two weeks of March, the festival is attended by nearly 50 puppet theatre artists from more than 20 different countries each year. Within the scope of the festival, indoor and outdoor shows are organized and exhibitions are exhibited in different themes in the exhibition halls.
