Leartis – Learti (Ruins of Mahmutlar)

The ruins of Laertes are located at the foot of Cebeli Reis mountain at an altitude of 1649, located 25 km east of Alanya.

It is estimated that the ancient city of Leartis, which is approximately 850 meters above sea level, dates back to the 7th century BC. It is understood from the inscription on a pedestal of Vespasian that the name of the city was Leartis, which lived its brightest period between the 1st and 3rd centuries. Caracalla exedra, baths, Zeus Megistos sanctuary, Apollon temple, great cistern, Caesar temple which is thought to be the symbol of fertility in agora, military towers, underground structure, emperors' street, watchtower, odeon or theater, agora, a semicircular sitting unit used for chatting, baths, ruins of shops, various temples, necropolis, and the oldest finds in the ruins dating back to the 7th century BC is part of an inscription written in Phoenician language are among the ruins found in the ancient city. The artefacts found in Leartis-Learti ruins are exhibited in Alanya Archeology Museum today.
