Located 45 km south of Çorum in Alaca district, Alacahöyük is a world-renowned historical area. Excavations started in 1935 by the order of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk are still in progress. As a result of the excavations and researches in the area, four different cultural levels belonging to Chalcolithic, Old Bronze, Hittite and Phrygian periods were unearthed. The uncovered artefacts include 13 Old Bronze Age Tombs, gates, temples and palace buildings. Many works and places that must be seen in the area that is most visited by archaeology enthusiasts are waiting for their visitors.
