The summer months are quite hot in Bodrum and in July-August, the temperature rises above 40 degrees. In winter, the air temperature varies between 10 and 15 degrees, while the lowest air temperatures are observed in February-March.

How to get to Bodrum

Transportation to Bodrum by Air:
Transportation to Bodrum by air is provided through Milas-Bodrum Airport. The distance from Bodrum Airport to Bodrum is 32 km. Taxi, car rental or airport shuttle services are available.

Transportation to Bodrum by land:
Bodrum bus services are held directly in every corner of Turkey. Those who want to come to Bodrum with their private vehicles should use Aydın-Yatağan-Milas-Bodrum or Muğla-Yatağan-Milas-Bodrum direction. If you plan to come to Bodrum with their vehicles during the summer season you should not forget that you may encounter extremely heavy traffic.   

When to get to Bodrum

Bodrum, which attracts visitors from all over the world, is dominated by intense and hot weather, especially in July-August. Nightlife, festivals, concerts and competitions continue throughout the summer in Bodrum, a holiday resort of choice for young people. April-May months are recommended for those who want to spend a quieter holiday, while those who do not like to have a holiday in hot weather are recommended to go to Bodrum in September-October and to book accommodation in advance. For those who do not want to stay in the centre of Bodrum, Akbuk, Akyarlar, Bitez, Gumbet, Gumusluk, Guvercinlik, Torba, Yalikavak, Turkbuku, Gundogan, Yaliciftlik, Turgutreis and Ortakent are also available.

Bodrum City Transportation

Transportation in Bodrum is provided by minibuses that depart every 15 minutes from the bus station in the centre. In addition transportation to Bitez, Mazı, Yalikavak, Türkbükü, Yaliciftlik, Gumusluk, Gumbet, Turgutreis, Gundogan, Ortakent, Torba and Akyarlar is also provided by minibuses from the Bodrum bus terminal. In order to avoid wasting time, it is recommended for those who want to visit Bodrum by private car or by renting a car. It is recommended that those who want to visit Bodrum by private vehicles should consider the busy season and parking problem.

What to eat in Bodrum?

Since it is a touristic region, it is very easy to find all kinds of international cuisine in Bodrum. Among the tangerine orchards, the restaurants offer different dishes from Turkish and international cuisine, as well as local dishes from Bodrum. Visitors to Bodrum are recommended to taste stuffed squash blossoms, Kashkek, Radish herb salad, Mustard herb salad, fried squash blossoms and Çökertme kebab.

There is a wide range of accommodation options for those who want to stay in Bodrum. Due to intense demand, hotel prices in Bodrum are slightly above standards, while accommodation options include all-inclusive hotels, apart-hotels for large families, bed and breakfast hotels, rental apartments or villas, boutique hotels and pensions among tangerine orchards. Those who wish to stay during the summer months are advised to book at least three months in advance.

Shopping

Among the places that local and foreign tourists frequently visit for shopping is Bodrum’s most populated spot, the Bodrum bazaar. It is possible to find all kinds of products in Bodrum Bazaar which is quite a big market. Souvenirs, carpets, wooden items, jewellery, handcrafted laces, pottery, evil eye beads, gourds, sea sponges and many other products are waiting for their buyers in the Bodrum bazaar. Shopping centres with art galleries, art centres, cinemas, cafes and restaurants are also open until late for visitors in and around Bodrum.

It is possible to find all kinds of products easily in the bazaar visited by domestic and foreign tourists and local people. In addition to the vegetables, fruits and food products grown in the region, it is very easy to find textile products and different local souvenirs in the markets established in the basement and its vicinity. Bazaar open in the early hours of the morning continue until the evening.

The natural bazaar which is established every Wednesday on Bodrum closed bazaar place sells vegetables, fruits, olives, olive oil and many other natural products grown from 100% local seed. Organic products that are sold very cheaply here are produced by local farmers without using any chemical drugs. For those who want to visit the natural market and taste or buy natural products, bazaar starts early in the morning and ends in the evening.
