The ancient city is located within the boundaries of Eskihisar village on the Milas Yatagan highway, 8 km west of the Yatagan district of Mugla. The city was built in the 3rd century BC in the name of Stratonike, the wife of the Seleucid king Antiochus I. The structures seen in the ancient city include two different walls of the Archaic and Classical periods, 3600 meters long, gymnasium, theatre, Roman parliament building, temples built for the emperor, bath complexes, columned street, grave monuments, fountain and water structure. .Among these structures, the wall of the Assembly building contains the prices of all goods and services sold in the city in 301 AD. To go to the ancient city which is 30 km away from Milas, you need to follow the Milas-Yatağan road and enter 1 km from Eskihisar village. The ancient city is free to visit.
