The ancient city of Alexandria Troas was founded in 310 BC in Ezine. Among the ruins of the ancient city to the present day are the remains of the aqueduct, the ruins of baths, theatre, palace, temples. Troy, which was a port city in ancient times, is now 1.5 km away from the sea. With the effect of being a port city, the ancient city traded salt and timber to distant points. In 52 AD, St. Paulus visited here on his way to spread Christianity and went to Europe with ships departing from the harbour.
