the Ancient City of Bargylia is located within the borders of the village of Bogazici, 25 km from the Milas centre. The ancient city of Bargylia, which means a high place in the Carian language, is believed to date back to the millennium BC. After Alexander the Great conquered Caria, he used the city as a base. The city, which was once located by the sea, has preserved its importance during the reign of Pergamon and the harbour of the city was the home of the kingdom navy and in the Christian era, the city was the centre of the bishopric. Among the ruins of the ancient city are the ruins of the defence walls, the ruins of the ancient theatre, temple areas and altars.
Visiting hours of the ancient city: From 15 April to 2 October between 09:00 and 19:00. From October 3rd and April 14th between 08:00 and 17:00, it can be visited free of charge.
