Lake Bafa, which was declared a national park in 1994 for hosting thousands of birds, covers an area of 7 thousand hectares. Within the boundaries of Lake Bafa National Park is the ancient city of Herakleia, the ancient city of Latmos, the island of Menci and the island of Ghost. There are minibuses from Milas for those who want to go to the lake on the Milas-Söke highway.
