The ancient city, which is 25 km from Denizli and 2 km from Honaz, has been built on the edgeof Aksu Stream to the north of Honaz Mountain. The city is one of the most important centres inthe great Phrygia and is one of the 6 largest cities of Phrygia.During the Persian sovereignty, the city had its brightest days and lost its importance with theestablishment of Hierapolis and Laodicea from the 3rd century BC. The earthquake thatoccurred in the 1st century AD severely damaged the city and the city was completelyabandoned between 692 and 787 AD.In the area where there are the remains of the castle belonging to the Ottoman period, house-type graves carved into the rocks and acrapol are also seen.The ancient city, which can be visited free of charge, can be reached by private car or by Honazminibuses departing from Denizli bus terminal.
