The ancient city of Iassos is 18 km away from Milas district centre and was built on the peninsula near Lake Bafa in 3,000 BC. The ruins of the ancient city include a fish market, aqueducts, the ruins of 1.5 km long city walls, the temple of Zeus Megistos, a largely intact ancient theatre, different inscriptions, votive writing, agora and castle. Due to its proximity to Milas, the ancient city, also known as Milas Iassos Ruins, can be visited free of charge. Visiting hours of the ancient city: From April 15th to October 2nd between 08:00 and 19:00. From October 3rd and April 14th between 08:00 and 17:00, it can be visited free of charge.
