Kütahya Castle The castle was built by the Byzantines in the 5th century and is located on the Hisar hill. The castle, which was also used during the Seljuks and Ottomans, has been repaired and renovated. The castle is made up of rubble and hewn stone. There are two fountains, two masjids, revolving casinos and coffee house in the castle.
Aizanoi Ancient City
One of the most important ancient cities of the Roman period, the ancient city of Aizanoi is located within the borders of Çavdarhisar district of Kütahya. It is thought that the city of Aizanoi was formed from the merger of the legendary king Arkas, Erato the nymph, and the mythological hero named Azan who is mentioned in the ancient sources. Excavations around the Temple of Zeus, located at the highest point of the ancient city of Aizanoi and home to many civilizations, showed that the first settlement began in the 3rd millennium BC.
The city, which came under Roman rule in 133 BC, was strengthened economically by grain cultivation, wine and wool production in the same period and the first coins were minted in the same period. There is a temple of Zeus, Theater and Aizanoi Macellum which is known as one of the first stock exchanges in the world. The inscriptions indicating the prices of the products sold during the period have survived to the present day. The ancient city, which was thought to have been home to approximately 80 thousand people in the Roman period, has a stadium for 13,500 people and a theatre for 20 thousand people.
One of the most striking structures in the ancient city is the Temple of Zeus, a large part of which has survived to the present day. The temple, which was built on the hill, is surrounded by columns and covered with marble beams and is shown as the unique example of its kind.
The ancient city of Aizanoi is open to visitors from 08:45 to 19:00 in summer and from 8:45 to 17:30 in winter and the museum cardholders can visit for free.

The Çinili Mosque, which is one of the most beautiful mosques in Kütahya, is one of the most visited places of Kütahya. Blue Kütahya tiles are used in the exterior decorations of the mosque where Turkish architecture is seen. The mosque was built in 1973 by the painter Ahmet Yakupoğlu and was built as an octagonal and two-storey building with a magnificent architectural structure. Dumlupınar martyrdom was commemorated in memory of the soldiers who were martyred on all fronts during Turkish War of Independence and the battle of the Commander-in-Chief that started on August 1922 in Afyon Kocatepe and was won in Dumlupınar in Kütahya on August 30, 1922. Opened on August 30, 1992, in the martyrdom, there are 3 commanders‘ monuments, a 500-person martyrdom, the monuments of martyrs, the martyr father-son monument, Mehmetçik monument and Namazgah. The cemetery located on the Kütahya-Uşak highway is accessible by Dumlupınar vehicles departing from the bus station. The Museum of Independence War and the Independence Park are also open to visitors in Dumlupınar.

Kütahya is the first name that comes to mind for hundreds of years in the art of tiling. The first and only museum on tiling was also opened in 1999 in Kütahya. In the museum, from the 14th century to the present, the vases, plates and household items produced in Kütahya and İznik are exhibited. Museum cardholders can visit the museum free of charge and there are also hosts invaluable tile collections in the museum.

Opened in 1965, the museum exhibits artefacts from the Hittite, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. The sarcophagus of Amozanlar in the museum is shown as the most important artefact of the museum. The sarcophagus made with relief technique was found in the excavations of the ancient city of Aizanoi. The museum is open every day except Mondays and museum cardholders can visit for free.
