Pinara, which is one of the largest cities in the Lycian region, is also known as the city where the first beauty contests were held in ancient times, 55 km from Fethiye. The ancient city gained importance with its interesting temple dedicated to Queen Aphrodite, and the image of numerous tombs engraved on the hill in the form of pigeon’s nest gave the ancient city a very different aura.
The ancient city of Pinara, which has 3 votes within the Lycian Union, consists of a bath, theatre, agora, odeon, rock tombs, sarcophagus tombs, city walls, upper acropolis and lower acropolis. The ancient city, which is located near the minaret village on the Fethiye – Kaş highway, is visited daily for free.
Visiting hours: From April 15th to October 2nd between 09:00 and 20:00. From October 3rd to April 14th between 08:00 and 17:00.
