Also known as Kariye Mosque or Hora monastery and church, Kariye Museum was built in 534 by Emperor Justinianus by Theodosius. After the conquest of İstanbul, the church was converted into a mosque. In 1948, the museum entered the restoration work and was opened to visitors in 1954. It is recommended that those who want to visit the museum should definitely get information about the museum or visit the museum with a guide.
The museum, which is open every day of the week, is visited during the summer months between 09:00 and 19:00 and between 09:00 and 16:30 in winter. The entrance is for a fee and the museum cardholders can visit free of charge.
Those who want to visit the museum can come to Edirnekapı by Metrobus and reach the museum with a 15-minute walk. Those who want to go to the museum by bus can use the buses 41AT-41ST-75M-77MT-93M-522B-500A-500L-500T.
