The first settlement is estimated to have started in the 5th century BC in the ancient city which is located in Kemer village of Biga district. It is known that the population of the ancient city, which came under the rule of many civilizations and kingdoms, was between 25 and 30 thousand in the brightest period. Ancient theatre, Roman villa and odeon structure were unearthed in the ancient city.
