The double churches built in 265×29.5 meters are located opposite the Byzantine Baths. It is of great importance for the Christian world since it was one of the first seven churches of the world in addition to the decision of the birth of Catholicism at the 3rd Council meeting where the consuls were gathered between 431-438. The building, which was transformed into the Basilica in the 11th century AD, was dedicated to the Mother Mary. In the 7th century AD, a second church was built with an entrance opening from the apse of the church, and thus the churches were known as Double Churches. The church and its environs are accepted as a religious centre since it is the first church offered in the name of the Virgin Mary.
