Herakleia Hieron Tomb

Herakleia Hieron, also known as the sacred area of the ancient city of Herakleia Salbace, was built on a hill overlooking the Tavas plain at the foot of Babadağ.

It is established in a rectangular shape on an area of approximately 1500 square meters. Mythological scenes about Artemis, Apollo, Pan, Dionysus and Heracles were carved on the reliefs by stonemasons of Aphrodisias in the area built in the 1st century AD. The tomb owner here tried to explain his closeness to the gods with his god motifs on the rock. Neolithic hand tools and other artefacts found in the sanctuary are exhibited in the Pamukkale Archaeological Museum today.

Those who want to go to the memorial grave should come to Kızılcabölük neighbourhood via Tavas Karacasu road. There are minibuses from Tavas to Kızılcabölük neighbourhood for those who want to come by minibuses.
