The ancient city of Liymra, which is located in the plain of Finike, 4 km from the city centre of Finike, was established in a wetland at the southern foot of Tocak Mountain. It is known that Limyra, which was called Zemuri in the Lycian language, has existed since the 5th century BC and was also the capital of the Lycian Union for a period. It includes passing the ancient city of Orange reached Limyra garden is one of the cities with the most rock-cut tombs of the Lycian Coast. There are more than 400 rock tombs in the ancient city and most of them are known by their inscriptions written in the Lycian language.
The ancient city of Liymra, which was a port city in the years it was founded, has remained 6 km inland from today. Abandoned after the Arab invasions in the eighth and ninth centuries, the acropolis located in the north of the ancient city consists of an inner castle and a lower castle. In the lower castle, there are walls, cisterns, Byzantine church and Perikle Heroon. At the point where the acropolis reaches the plain, just next to the Turunçova-Kumluca highway, there is a theatre building, originally from the Hellenistic period, undergoing a major repair in 141 AD. In addition, it is understood from the inscription of the grave monument on the theatre that it belongs to Xatabura.
This monumental tomb decorated with reliefs is dated to 350 BC. On the slope and hill just behind and behind the theatre are the Xatabura tomb, slope houses and rock tombs, the acropolis and acrapol church, the Perikle Heron (Monument) and the city walls. It is necessary to climb the hill to see these artefacts.
At the bottom of the road is a very large column head. An important building in this section is the monumental tomb of Gaius Caesar, the spiritual son of Emperor Augustus, built in the 4th century AD. This artefact was built because Gaius Caesar died in Limyra Ancient City on his way back from Rome to Jerusalem. The artefacts found in ancient excavations since 1970 are exhibited in the Antalya Museum today.
