One of the symbols of Bursa, Ulucami was built between 1396 and 1399 by Yildirim Beyazid, one of the Ottoman Sultans. Over the years, the mosque has been damaged as a result of earthquakes, fires, natural disasters and invasions, but it has regained its magnificent appearance as a result of renovation and repair works in recent years. The mosque has a total interior area of 3165.5 square meters and has 2 minarets, 20 domes and the dome in the middle has a glass structure.
The mosque, which is the largest among the multi-domed mosques of Ottoman architecture, is also located in a large fountain made of 18-cornered marble. One of the most original and beautiful architectural structures of the mosque, which was built in the 1400s, the solar system is located on the east side and the galaxy system is located on the west side. This system, which was worked on the pulpit years ago, overlaps with the modern technology. Located on Ataturk Street, the mosque can be visited free of charge every day. You can reach Ulucami by taking the metro from the city square and getting off at Şehreküstü stop after a 2-minute walk.
