Urgup, which was used as a religious centre in history, was used as a bishopric centre for a period. Urgup, which has maintained its importance in history, was a gateway to Konya and Nigde during the Seljuk period and became the centre of the judiciary during the Ottoman period. Three graces fairy chimneys, Temenni Hill, Cappadocia Art and History Museum, Sobesos Antique City, Pink Valley, Kızılçukur Valley, Üzengi Valley, Pancarlık Church, Greek Bath, Ala Church, Kepez Church and Damsa River are among the places to be seen in Ürgüp. There are buses from Nevsehir and Kayseri for those who want to go to Urgup which is 20 km to Nevsehir and 67 km to Kayseri.
Three Graces Fairy Chimneys
The three graces fairy chimneys, which are known throughout the world and symbolize Cappadocia, consist of two large and one small fairy chimneys. Temenni Hill, the highest peak of Ürgüp, can be seen from anywhere in the city. Located in the very centre of Ürgüp, the hill is 80 meters high. Located in the middle of the hill, where two important tombs dating to the Ottoman period, the tomb was previously used as a public library of Urgup Tahsin Aga.
It is possible to see the whole of Ürgüp and Mount Erciyes from this point. The name of the tomb on the hill remained as Temenni hill because people wished to tie a cloth. A magnificent view of Urgup awaits those who climb to the top of Temenni. There is a cafeteria on the hill for a drink and a photo exhibition about Urgup history.

The artefacts exhibited in the Urgup Museum were first collected in the domed structure on the top of the temple since 1965 and then exhibited in the museum which was opened in 1971. Among the exhibited works are the Mammoth female fossil, Seafood fossils, Old bronze, Roman and Byzantine terracotta hand-made ceramics, metal, glass artefacts, gold, silver, bronze coins and medals from various periods, as well as reflecting the regional culture of the recent period. The museum is located behind Urgup State Hospital. It is open to visitors between 09:00 and 19:00 in summer and between 08:00 and 17:00 in winter.

The museum, which has restored its 150-year-old mansion to its present appearance after being converted into a museum, reflects the history and culture of Cappadocia with its architectural feature. Within the museum, more than 3000 handmade dolls made in Cappadocia, gathered from different countries of the world and costumes of babies are exhibited together with historical narratives of babies. The only visitors to the museum, which is Turkey’s first handmade doll museum, do not also obtain information about Turkish history but also in world history. The museum is visited every year by local and foreign tourists and the entrance is provided for a small fee. Those who want to go to the museum located in Mustafa Pasa, 10 km away from Urgup, can go by private vehicles or minibuses departing from Urgup. It is estimated that the settlement of the ancient city of Sobesos, located to the south of Şahinefendi Village of Ürgüp, dates back to the middle of the 4th century AD. Excavations in the ancient city revealed a large meeting room covered with mosaics, a bathing structure, a chapel and its complex.
Located 30 km from Ürgüp, which is on the Örencik side, entrance to the Ancient City is free.
