Alaçatı

In recent years, Alacati has attracted a lot of foreign tourists and it offers a wonderful holiday to its visitors with its stone houses, streets decorated with bougainvillaea and geraniums. The city, which was known as Agrillia and Alatsata in ancient times, was called Alacatı during the Ottoman period and now it's called Alaçatı. Although Alacati has a population of 8 thousand, this number increases up to 50 thousand in the summer months. Alaçatı, with its increasing number of visitors every year, impresses its visitors with its colourful streets, boutique hotels, entertainment venues and different kinds of shops.

How to get to Alaçatı?

Alacati which is 85 km away from Izmir airport and 75 km away from Izmir can be reached from the Izmir Airport by minibuses. Cesme minibuses which depart from platform number 141 in the Izmir Bus Terminal are also provided transportation to Alacati.

Accommodation in Alaçatı:

There is a wide range of accommodation options for those who want to stay in Alaçatı. Due to intense demand, hotel prices in Alaçatı are slightly above standards, while accommodation options include all- inclusive hotels, apart-hotels for large families, bed and breakfast hotels, rental apartments or villas, boutique hotels and pensions among tangerine orchards. Those who wish to stay during the summer months are advised to book at least three months in advance.

What to eat in Alacati?

Alaçatı is famous for its homemade jams, while breakfast is the first thing that comes to mind with olives grown in the region, breakfast salads made from various herbs, local cheese varieties and pancakes are among the foods eaten at breakfast. Among the other local delicacies, it is recommended to taste the appetizers.

Alacati bazaar and streets:

Alacatihas a very colourful bazaar if you want to shop and all kinds of products can easily be found. Alaçatı bazaar, which is very lively both day and night, stands out with local clothes, jewellery and handmade souvenirs. It is recommended if you have time to wander the colourful streets of Alacati in the morning and evening and spend time in small cafes and restaurants.

Alacati Stone Windmills: 

Windmills built in the 1850s to produce flour from wheat by using wind energy are located on a small hill in the middle of Alacati. It serves its visitors in restaurants and cafes in the area, which is frequently visited by people who want to take a sunset photo.

Alacati herb festival

The festival, in which the herbs grown in the Alacati that is believed to be medicinal are exhibited and sold, is organized every year at the end of March.Within the scope of the festival, which exhibits quite colourful images, different kinds of herbs grown in the region are exhibited, activities and competitions are organized and presented to the tastes of the participants with herbs.

Alacati Bazaar

In addition to vegetables and fruits, Alacati bazaar, which clothing, spices, homemade jams and many other products are sold, is established in a large area every Saturday. In addition to the vegetables and fruits grown in the region, there are spices, jams, handmade souvenirs and many other products.

Beaches of Alacati

In Alacati there are many beaches nearby for those who want to swim, sunbathe and enjoy the sea. There are sunbeds, toilet, shower-cabin service on the beaches as well as facilities to meet the needs of eating and drinking.

Delikli Bay

Delikli Bay offers a unique opportunity for those who want to enjoy the sea in a quiet and calm way away from the crowds. Since there are no facilities on the beach, visitors are advised to take food and beverages with them. For those who want to camp, there are also areas around the bay. There is no bus or minibus to the bay, which is 7.5 km away from Alacati so you could only visit it by car.

Çark Beach

Due to its location, Cark beach, which has a lot of wind, offers an excellent opportunity especially for surf enthusiasts. If you wish, you can rent surf equipment from the surf schools located on the beach and windsurfing courses are available for people who wish to learn. It is possible to spend a different day at the Cark beach, watching the surfers while enjoying the sea and the beach. You can go to the beach by private vehicles or by using Alacati-Cesme minibuses.
