The ancient city of Ariassos was founded in 300 BC on the Taurus Mountains at an altitude of 900 meters and an altitude of 1100 meters and has a length of 400 meters. The ancient city, built on the slope of the mountain, is worth seeing for its entrance gate, baths, rock tombs, water cisterns and aqueducts. In the area where the ancient city is located, the entrance gate, the magnificent remnant of the city, is the most striking structure.
The most important feature of the city is that three-quarters of the area where it was founded is filled with the remains of the monumental tombs (necropolis).In the ancient city, it was understood that viticulture, winemaking and olive oil production was made in the ancient periods and the city was evacuated due to earthquakes in the following periods. The ancient city, which is located within the borders of Akkoc village, is among the frequent destinations of walking groups. Those wishing to go to the ancient city should go to Akkoc village by buses departing from Antalya bus terminal and then walk about 2 km from the village.
Visiting hours of the ancient city Between 08:00 and 19:00 in the summer. In winter, it is open to visitors between 08:00 and 17:00. Museum cardholders can visit the ancient city, which is visited for a fee, free of charge twice a year.
