Ihlara Valley

It is known that the first settlement in the Ihlara valley, which has survived as a treasury of history, began in the 4th century AD. 14 kilometres long and between 150 and 200 meters deep valley, reaching up to the present day, is waiting for their visitors as a unique historical and natural wonder with frescoed churches.

Ihlara valley which is one of the first places that come to mind when it is mentioned Cappadocia is 40 km away from Aksaray and 148 km away from Kayseri. There are two different options for those who want to visit the Ihlara valley. The first is to participate in the balloon tour and pass through the valley during the tour and the other is to walk around to see the churches and caverns closely.

A view of the waters flowing through the valleys and marvellous houses and caverns await those who descend to the valley on foot. During the valley walk, chapels, churches, cellars and rooms of the houses built here and there await exploration. Changing bridges built on the water will help you explore the valley and take pictures of the valley.

Access to the valley, which can be reached by descending hundreds of stairs, is free of charge to museum cardholders. Those who go to Ihlara valley by private vehicles can reach the valley via Aksaray-Nevşehir highway and there are buses from Aksaray at certain intervals for those who want to come to Ihlara valley by bus.

Ihlara Valley Visiting Hours: From April to October between 07:00 and 19:00 Between 08:00 and 17:00 in November-March.
