Iznik and Iznik Tile
Iznik, which is 4970 meters in length and surrounded by 114 bastions, looks like an open-air museum. Iznik castle dates back to 258 BC and has four gates.The Lefke Gate and the Istanbul gate, with reliefs, friezes and inscriptions on it, are strongly recommended. Iznik, which hosted many civilizations, was also the capital of the Seljuk Turks. Iznik, with its magnificent history and nature, is also a stopping point for those who want to hike and camp.
İznik Tile
Tile comes to mind when İznik is mentioned. Iznik tiles, which were first built in the 15th century, had their brightest days in the 16th and 17th centuries.İznik Tile, which came to the point of disappearance in the 18th century, returned to its old days in 1980 and became known all over the world. The tiles produced in Iznik were used in mosques, inns, baths, museums and mansions in every period. Today, tiles are exported from Iznik to many countries of the world.

Located in the village of Elbeyli, 7 km from the centre of Iznik, the building was erected in the 1st century AD. The 12-meter high monument is also known as 5 stones because it consists of 5 stone marbles on top of each other. It is presumed that there is a statue of a goddess or an animal on the 6th stone marble that could not survive.

The museum, which was opened in 1960, exhibits artefacts from Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods and sarcophagi found in archaeological excavations, tombstones, examples of ceramics and tiles symbolizing the region, as well as many historical monuments. The museum can be visited every day except on Mondays.
