Lycian Road

The Lycian Road used for commerce in the ancient times by Lycians is now serve as a trekking road for trekking enthusiasts. 535 km long with Turkey’s first long-distance hiking trail, the Lycian Road is listed among the world’s top 10 hiking trail.

There are local and foreign tourists who walk almost every day on the road which is possible to walk in all seasons. The Lycian Road, which is a great hiking path for nature lovers, consists of more than 20 short or long-distance routes. The walks can be done daily, weekly or longer. Those who walk on the Lycian Road, which has a history of 3 thousand years, sometimes walk by the sea and sometimes 1500 meters high with nature in a magnificent view.

The unspoilt bays, deserted villages, mountains, Idyros, Phaselis, Olympos, Limyra, Myra, Simena, Sdyma, Pinara, Xanthos, Letoon, Patara and many other ancient cities are located along the walking path. For those who like to walk the Lycian Road, there are designated points to meet the need for accommodation along the route within the hostels as well as areas for those who want to set up tents.

To those who want to walk the Lycian Road should bring whistle, flashlight, cell phone and extra battery, map or GPS device, waterproof hiking boots, extra clothes in case of weather change, packed lunch and bees or pollen allergy sufferers are advised to take their medication and definitely inform a few people before starting the walk.
