Ortahisar Castle
Ortahisar castle between Göreme and Ürgüp is estimated to have been built during the Byzantine period. There are corridors, rooms and tunnels connected to each other within the castle, which was built with a strategic plan. A magnificent view of the castle from the top of the walk is waiting for visitors. Ortahisar Castle, which is one of the biggest fairy chimneys of Cappadocia with its height of 86 meters, has been used as a shelter for Roman and Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
It is possible to visit Ortahisar Castle, where the museum card is not valid, for a small fee. Although not as big as Uchisar, it is also known as the highest fairy chimney of Cappadocia. Ortahisar Castle, which is 16 km from Nevsehir, 6.5 km from Urgup and 4 km from Göreme open-air museum, is among the first places to visit in Cappadocia. For those who do not have a vehicle, there are minibuses departing from Ürgüp and Göremeden.
