Seven Sleepers Area and Cave

The Seven Sleepers archaeological ruins, which were estimated to be built in the 5th to 6th centuries AD, are considered a religious centre. Rumour has it that seven young people who fled from the pagans between 249-251 AD took shelter there and were reportedly asleep for 200 years. As a result of the excavations, two churches and hundreds of graves and inscriptions on the walls about the seven sleepers were found. Among the graves found in the grave of Saint Maria Magdalene. The seven sleepers area also include stone houses, stone sarcophagi, aqueducts, gravesites and a church. Seven Sleepers Cave is one of the places mentioned in the Islamic religion (Ashab-ı Keyf) and Christianity. There are 33 caves in the world which are thought to be Seven Sleepers Cave. This cave from Selçuk, including the caveat Tarsus and Afshin-Kahramanmaras, there are 3 caves. Seven sleepers cave is located very close to the centre of Selcuk and those who want to walk also can easily go by private car or taxi.
