The ancient city of Sidyma is located in Dodurga neighbourhood of Seydikemer district. Although it is known that the ruins inside the city belong to the Roman period, it was found from the inscriptions and coins that the history of the ancient city dates back to the 1st century BC.
The hill to the west of the ancient city is the first settlement acropolis of the city and there are 400 meters long city walls on the southeast of the hill. Other ruins surviving from the ancient city are seen among the village houses of today. Among the ruins of the ancient city of Sidyma are the acropolis, gates, watchtower, theatre, the temple of Artemis, baths, church ruins, rock-cut tombs in the form of pigeon nests and or sarcophagus-shaped tombs.
Those who want to go to the ancient village, 50 km away from Fethiye, should come to Seydikemer and then go to Dodurga neighbourhood. It is possible to arrive from Fethiye to Seydikemer by minibus as well as by private vehicles. The ancient city can be visited free of charge.
