Antakya, which has a long and rich history of thousands of years, also has a rich cuisine. Antakya cuisine, which consists of a mixture of different civilizations, has been chosen as the gastronomy city in the year 2021 with its meat dishes, vegetable dishes, kebabs, mezes belonging to the region, desserts, kunefe which comes to mind when speaking of Antakya, tray kebab and many others. If you are to visit Antakya it is strongly recommended to taste the local cuisine in the restaurants that make home-cooked meals.

Antakya Kunefe:

The first thing people think of when you mention Antakya is the kunefe. Kunefe, which is a kind of dumpling, is an indispensable dessert of every Antakyaian. If youre visiting Antakya it is highly recommended that you should taste kunefe at the point called Koprubasi in the area where the old parliament building is located.

Antakya Laurel Soap:

Laurel soap, a soap unique to Antakya, is made from oil and leaves obtained from the fruit of Laurel tree. Soap is used in the cosmetic industry as well as in the treatment of rheumatic and skin diseases. The laurel oil obtained by boiling the laurel tree fruits for about 12 hours is then subjected to different processes to obtain soap. Soaps produced in Antakya is shipped to Turkeys domestic market as well as to different countries. Antakya bay soap is sold in Uzun Bazaar and many shops around it.
