Alinda archaeological site

Alinda, one of the most important cities of Caria, is located in Karpuzlu district, 54 km away from the centre of Aydın. Ada, the daughter of Hekatomnos, was expelled from Halicarnassus by her brother Pixodaros and in 340 BC she moved to the ancient city of Alinda and made this city the capital. The buildings that can be seen in the ancient city include acrapol, agora, theatre, city walls, aqueducts, tower, temple foundations and sarcophagi. It is possible to reach the ancient city by following the signs on the Çine-Karpuzlu road by private vehicle, as well as transportation from the centre of Çine by minibuses.
