Grand Mosque

Being the oldest mosque in Şanlıurfa, Grand Mosque was built as the first temple and was used as a church in the later periods. According to a belief the handkerchief that Jesus sent to King Aghbar with his apostle Thomas was left in the well in the mosque and it is believed that the well water is healing. The minaret of the mosque also serves as the city’s clock tower.
