When should we go to Marmaris?

Marmaris has a Mediterranean climate and summers are hot and dry, winters are mild and rainy. Due to the high seawater temperature, it is possible to swim 7 to 8 months of the year. The average annual temperature of Marmaris is 18 degrees, while the hottest months are July and August. Those who do not prefer to have a holiday in hot weather are advised to visit Marmaris in April-May or September-October, while those who do not wish to have excessive accommodation difficulties are advised to make their hotel reservations before arrival.

How to get to Marmaris?

Transportation to Marmaris by air The nearest airport is Dalaman Airport, 88 km from Marmaris. As the number of flights to Dalaman is increased especially during the summer months, it is easy to reach Dalaman and surrounding areas. You can reach Marmaris from Dalaman Airport by HAVAŞ shuttles or by renting a car.

Transportation to Marmaris by road There are many points of Marmaris on Turkey’s buses every day. It is recommended that those who want to go to Marmaris by bus, in particular, due to the intensity experienced in the summer months, should buy or book bus tickets in advance.

Transportation by Sea:

Transportation to Marmaris by private car

Those who want to come to Marmaris from İzmir direction should follow the İzmir-Aydın highway, those who want to come from Marmaris to Istanbul, Istanbul-Yalova-Balıkesir-Akhisar-Manisa-İzmir-Aydın-Muğla-Marmaris route. Those wishing to come to Marmaris from Ankara direction should follow the Ankara-Sivrihisar-Emirdağ-Dinar-Honaz-Muğla-Marmaris-route. Those who want to come from Marmaris to Antalya, Antalya-Kemer-Kumluca-Finike-Demre-Kaş-Fethiye-Marmaris direction, or via the Antalya plateau route must follow the Fethiye-Marmaris route.  

Marmaris city transport

Transportation in Marmaris is provided by minibus, bus, taxi or rental car. Transportation to the resorts and other places close to Marmaris is provided by buses departing from Marmaris bus station. For those who want to go to the surrounding holiday destinations from Marmaris in the summer months until 02:00, there are minibuses. Guests staying in Marmaris can explore nearby areas, take short walking trips and cycle.  Especially Marmaris İçmeler coastline, Gökova coastline, Hisarönü, Orhaniye, Selimiye coastline and Bozburun coastline are suitable for those who want to use bicycles.

What to eat in Marmaris

With the influence of tourism, the restaurants in Marmaris serve different tastes from international cuisine. Local dishes include olive oil, seafood and vegetable dishes. There are restaurants for all kinds of budgets in Marmaris where Turkish cuisine is also served. Especially seafood dishes are served in every restaurant. The majority of the restaurants are located on the beach and around Marmaris Castle.

Marmaris Shopping

As in other tourism regions in Marmaris in Turkey also are affordable for every budget shopping options. In particular, there are many stores of different brands in leather products, jewellery, carpet and textile products. The Grand Covered Bazaar, also known as Eski Bedesten, is one of the preferred places for shopping in Marmaris where all kinds of products are sold. Located in the centre of Marmaris, the covered bazaar is open every day and it is possible to find all kinds of products in the bazaar. There are 32 shops and cafes and restaurants in the Bedesten bazaar, which attracts attention with its historical structure. It is also among the preferred spots for shopping in the shops located in the marina area of Marmaris. Marmaris honey and orange jam are recommended for those who want to buy products belonging to Marmaris region.

Marmaris District Markets

District markets are established in different places on different days of the week in Marmaris. In the markets, it is possible to find all kinds of products from local products, fresh vegetables, fruits, souvenirs, textile products, summer clothing products to winter clothing products. Among the markets established in Marmaris is the Marmaris Thursday market on every Thursday, the İçmeler market which is established in İçmeler every Wednesday and the markets establish every Sunday in Beldibi. The market, which was established in the early hours of the morning, ends in the evening hours.
