Balıklı lake, which is the symbol of the city, is also known as the place where the prophet Abraham was thrown into the fire and the wood was converted to fish. Balıklı lake is one of the most visited spots in Şanlıurfa with its fishes that are believed to be sacred in the lake and the historical artefacts found around it.
